As a child Sharon McGinley's mother would greet her in the morning saying, "Who are you today dear?", thus encouraging her imagination and laying the foundation for a creative future. She has an active and dramatic dream life and also finds the stories of other peoples lives inspiring. At first glance, one might think that her brilliantly colored paintings, which are inhabited with flying fish, leaping cats and winged beings, to be whimsical, but often the subject matter is of a more serious nature: earthquakes, fires and cycles of life and death.
Inspired by all the beautiful Mother/daughter combos we've seen around town, we've invited professional photographer Sarah Bloom to take artistic portraits of Mothers with their children on Sunday, April 27, Noon-4pm. Cost is $40 per family for one framed 8x10" print. Photos will be on display during the first weekend in May and ready for pick up just in time for Mother's Day.
